Attaching your GoPro to an inflatable paddle board: choosing the right mount

There are many mounting modes to attach your GoPro, however not all of them are suitable for an inflatable paddle. Among the many bindings available, the best one for your inflatable paddle will be the adhesive binding. Practical and reliable, this mount will allow you to get the most out of your GoPro and your paddle.
To be on the safe side, you can use a float or leash that will ensure you don’t lose your GoPro if it falls into the water.

The Benefits of Adhesive GoPro Attachment

  • Ease of Use : The GoPro is easy to set up, you won’t need any tools.
  • Weather Resistance : The silicone-based adhesive that is used to attach the bracket is designed to withstand not only water but also heavy conditions.
  • Discreet and convenient : Once the GoPro is removed, the mount takes up very little space. You can put it on and take it off as you wish.
It’s important to note that you still need to be careful with the attachment of your GoPro. This is because the adhesive loses its adhesion over time and can eventually come off. To avoid this, it is recommended to replace the adhesive fastener approximately every six months.

How to install your GoPro on an inflatable paddle board?

Here are some steps to successfully install your Gopro on your inflatable SUP:

  1. First, inflate your paddle and start by thoroughly cleaning the surface where you want to stick the GoPro. To remove any grease or dirt, use soapy water. It is not recommended to use abrasive products such as acetone or alcohol to clean your inflatable paddle board. Doing so could damage it.
  2. Then, gently peel off the adhesive back of the GoPro and place it on the inflatable paddle board in the desired location. Be careful not to stick your GoPro on an area that bends when you store your paddle. The ideal position is at the front of the paddle, well centred in relation to the sides.
  3. Press down firmly on the adhesive backing to secure it securely to the paddle.
  4. You must let it dry for at least 24 hours before using your paddle or touching the elements of the GoPro. This drying time allows the adhesive to set well and ensures good adhesion.
  5. Once it’s dry, you can hang the GoPro on the paddle by clipping it onto its base.
