1. Preparation

To store your paddle, you’ll need the following equipment:

  1. The storage bag,
  2. a cloth
  3. as well as your hands.

To deflate and store your paddle in a way that respects your equipment, it is essential to follow the steps below when preparing your paddle:

In preparation, find a suitable spot, avoiding places where your paddle could fly off, or where it could be damaged. A large rug or carpet on the ground is ideal to protect your SUP.

Next, make sure you have everything you need within easy reach.

2. Pre-deflation steps

  1. Before you deflate your paddle, start by using your rag to wipe down your paddle and thus protect it from mildew, sand that could damage it, and odors.
  2. Then dismount your aileron to lay the SUP flat on the ground.
  3. Dry and store your fin.

3. Deflating the inflatable paddle

Now we come to the most important part, deflating the paddle.

To do this :

  1. open the inflation valve cap, then open the valve by pressing the central button and locking it in the open position with a quarter-turn before releasing.
  2. Let the paddle empty itself of air.
  3. While the air is escaping, store or dismantle the leash paddle in the way that suits you best. Taking it apart prevents it from dragging once the paddle is folded.

4. Folding and storing the inflatable paddle

We are now going to start rolling the paddle:

  1. place yourself at the rear. The sup is right side up.
  2. start by folding forward so that all three aileron housings are visible.
  3. then fold the rearmost aileron housing over the other two, bringing it towards you.
  4. Finally, resume rolling in the original direction. Bend the paddle, applying pressure to empty any remaining air from the SUP.

Once folded, place it in its bag and close it.

Store in a cool, dry place, out of direct sunlight.

SROKA tips

  1. The first piece of advice would be to beware of algae, which can react with the materials and stain them, so make sure you rinse your paddle properly, especially if you’re storing it for a long time.
  2. When it comes to garage storage, avoid putting too much weight on your paddle, and ideally store it upright, not flat.
  3. Finally, and although it seems logical, avoid deflating your paddle in the water, because even if this avoids sand, it would be dramatic to let water penetrate inside your SUP.

Conclusion

In conclusion, pay attention to where you choose to deflate your paddle, make sure it’s as clean as possible when you store it, especially for long storage, and above all, learn our homemade folding technique to avoid damaging your fin boxes.
