Our comparison of inflatable paddleboards on the market
For beginners, we recommend stable paddleboards with slightly less length to increase maneuverability. Stability depends on the board's width. A wide board will be more stable. A beginner's paddleboard will be very geared towards leisure paddling.
What differentiates brands is the construction:
- A more reinforced and therefore more durable paddleboard will be slightly heavier because it will have a bit more layers of PVC.
- A very light paddleboard will be less sturdy. There is a 1kg difference.
The more reinforced the paddleboard, the stiffer and more stable it will be. So, it is important to look at the number of layers, which can help you differentiate between constructions.
1. Top 5 budget-friendly paddleboards
A budget-friendly paddleboard is an easy-to-use paddleboard at a very reasonable price. It will allow you to discover paddleboarding and get started.
Generally, a budget-friendly paddleboard is an entry-level paddleboard. To make it more economical, the number of PVC layers is reduced, and the design and construction are simplified to achieve a very attractive price. Depending on the brand, the sturdiness and stability can vary greatly.
We have created a ranking that will help you better understand all the models and make your choice. Our main criteria were: construction, material quality, board width for maximum stability, and price.

2. The top 5 paddles for beginners
For beginners, we recommend stable paddles that are a little shorter to increase maneuverability. Stability is a function of board width. A wide board will be more stable. A paddle for beginners will be very family-friendly. What makes the difference between brands is the construction and quality of the PVC and glues used, as well as the general shape of the inflatable paddle, which will determine its glide. A more reinforced and therefore more durable paddle will be slightly heavier because it will have a few more layers of PVC. A very light paddle will be less robust. There is a 1kg difference between the two options. The more reinforced a paddle is, the more rigid and stable it will be. So it's important to look at the number of layers, which can help differentiate constructions. Finally, some shapes will allow for better glide, while others will be more stable. Choose according to your needs and abilities.

3. Top 4 race paddles
A race paddle is necessarily long and narrow. The longer and narrower it is, the better its performance, with the trade-off of being less stable. Therefore, good paddle control is required to fully utilize this type of stand-up paddleboard.
A racing paddle ranges from 12'6 to 14 feet. The width will be less than 28' wide. Again, one of the keys to performance is rigidity, which is why many competitors opt for hard boards. But more and more competitors are using inflatable paddles for reasons of simplicity.
We deliberately haven't given ratings, because race competition is very difficult to evaluate. So many factors come into play that it's hard to be objective. 80% of performance is due to the competitor and the paddler on the board. So cardio, physical strength, and explosiveness are such important criteria that they can skew a test.

4. Top 4 Surf Paddles
To surf with an inflatable paddleboard, you need to choose the right one.
The shape is different, as is its thickness:
- The board's outline should be fairly round, tapering at the front and back to facilitate turns and prevent the nose from diving into the wave.
- A thickness of 5' or 12 cm is recommended to allow better pressure on the rails and thus make the board turn more easily.
- Similarly, the position and angle of the fins will influence the paddle's maneuverability.
- Finally, rigidity is a fundamental criterion for hoping to make real turns. If the board is manufactured too lightly, it will bounce on the water with significant energy loss.
So take the time to compare constructions; it's essential. It's better to invest in a good paddleboard for riding waves.
At SROKA, we offer two potential models that could meet your paddle surfing needs:
- There's the Wave 9'5, which is primarily geared towards paddle surfing but can still be used for touring.
- And the second is the Malibu 10, which will be 70% touring and 30% wave riding.
Our main criteria for evaluating these 4 paddleboards were: the board's shape (which determines maneuverability), width, thickness, board length, as well as the construction of the paddleboards and the materials used.

5. Top 5 Touring Paddles
Going on a paddle tour means going on an adventure with family or friends. Technically, all paddles allow you to do this, but:
- if you want to optimize glide and your touring experience, we advise you to choose boards with pointed noses for better glide.
- If you are looking for stability, opt for a paddle with a pointed nose and a wide enough tail to maximize your stability.
- If you are looking to maximize glide, opt for a long, thin board with a thin tail. This will allow you to go faster. This type of board will provide excellent glide and allow you to cover more distance with less effort.
Our main criteria were solidity, the general shape which determines glide and stability, the quality and quantity of materials used, and the price.

What is an inflatable paddleboard?
Inflatable paddleboarding is a water sport practiced on the sea, lakes, or rivers. Using a paddle, the paddler stands on a board and propels themselves with the paddle. Inflatable paddleboard, stand-up paddleboard, or SUP are all the same sport.
A paddleboard refers to the board itself, accompanied by one or more fins, a pump, a leash, and a carrying bag. Sometimes paddleboards are sold separately (without paddle or leash) and sometimes they are sold as a complete set. While rigid boards can still be found, inflatable boards are now more common due to their simplicity, ease of use, and durability.
Who can do stand-up paddleboarding?
Inflatable paddleboarding is suitable for a very wide and general public. From beginners to experts, you can find something to enjoy. There are no age limits. This type of activity is particularly suited for people who want to relax on the water and get away from the crowds.
There are different types of inflatable paddleboards. The shape, length, and number of fins vary to meet different needs. Similarly, the construction is very important for the responsiveness, rigidity, and stability of your paddleboard.
So, before investing in a paddleboard, analyze your desires and needs to choose the right model.
Depending on your activity, the choice of paddleboard will be crucial to truly adapt to what you want to do on the water. If you want to go touring, racing, paddle surfing, or just starting out, you'll need a different paddleboard. A "one-size-fits-all" paddleboard will be a compromise and will do everything, but nothing well. So, consider where you are, your skill level, your desires, and your build; the choice of paddleboard will be different.
We have tried to show you different products that can meet all your needs. Our main criteria were: the price of the paddleboard, its construction, width, shape, and accessories, if any.
