Stand-up paddleboarding (SUP) involves paddling while standing on a large, wide board using a paddle. For us, it's the most accessible water sport , combining physical activity with a sense of escape. The ocean is our playground, and we want to share our passion for SUP with you. That's why we're sharing 5 great reasons to try inflatable stand-up paddleboarding . Already convinced and want to improve? We'll share our tips for getting started and progressing in stand-up paddleboarding .

Good reasons to try inflatable paddleboarding

Reason 1: A sport accessible to all

Stand-up paddleboarding is a sport that anyone can try! Whatever your age, size, or fitness level, you'll have no trouble getting started. The only requirement is knowing how to swim. A little balance is also important, but you'll pick it up very quickly. It's far from a dangerous sport, provided you practice on calm, flat water. And if you use the correct technique, you won't risk injury or damaging your joints (unlike some other water sports). Perfect if you want to enjoy back-to-back sessions without the risk of being sore the next day!

Furthermore, paddleboards are available for all budgets . At SROKA, we offer inflatable SUPs starting at €430. To make the sport more accessible and ensure everyone finds their perfect fit, our ranges include the paddleboard that suits your needs: leisurely paddling, touring, racing, paddle surfing… as well as the type of water you plan to paddle on: lake, river, sea… All these factors will help you choose between an all-around SUP or a touring SUP (with a pointed nose). The latter offers better glide, requires less effort, and allows you to cover greater distances. Sufficient length is also important. Generally, we recommend opting for a fairly long board, at least 11 feet, for leisurely paddling. Reason 2: A way to escape and go on an adventure

Stand-up paddleboarding (SUP) will allow you to discover new horizons , or rediscover familiar spots and the land from the water . Starting from beaches that are sometimes overcrowded, paddle out and away from the shore: you can explore calm places, far from the hustle and bustle. Perfect if you want to recharge in nature while staying in shape.

It's also a way to explore unknown spots , whether you're on vacation or close to home. By walking along the shore, you're very likely to discover small caves or coves that aren't accessible on foot.

A SUP trip, beyond revealing exceptional landscapes, allows you to disconnect from everyday life, to be in your own bubble, far from the worries of life, and simply to enjoy the silence of nature on the water.

Planning to venture beyond the 300m limit? You can always use it as a small tender from your boat!

Reason 3: A practice beneficial for physical and mental fitness

Paddling standing up on your SUP board is a great way to stay in shape, work your muscles, and have fun . Even at a slow pace, standing up engages your breathing and builds endurance. It's therefore a great option if you want to improve your cardiovascular fitness . You can adjust the intensity level to suit your needs!

This is a very comprehensive discipline for your physical fitness, and what's more, excellent for your proprioception . Standing upright while pushing the water with your paddle engages the muscles in your legs, arms, back, and abs. Your legs will work on proprioception and your stability. Your abs will be constantly engaged, and your arms, shoulders, and back will be used to generate power in your strokes and propel you forward. Keep in mind, however, that while the power of the paddling motion originates in the arms, it is transmitted through the legs to move the board along.

How to choose your stand-up paddleboard

The different muscles used during paddleboarding:

And the big advantage is that you work without showing any real "effort", without even realizing it!

Like all water sports, stand-up paddleboarding (SUP) has a mental dimension . It requires analyzing the water, its movements (generated by wind, waves, currents, and nearby boats). Consequently, stand-up paddleboarding will develop your sea legs and allow you to more easily grasp other water sports.

On a mental level, it's the ideal sport for escaping and recharging. During your outing, you're in the present moment and enjoy a real breath of fresh air. Don't hesitate to take some time to relax on your board, practicing paddleboard yoga or simply enjoying a meditation session . All of this can only be beneficial for your mental health and stress management (and it's scientifically proven!).

Reason 4: A fun and relaxing activity to share with the family

As we've mentioned, paddleboarding is a great way to escape the everyday. This sport is so accessible that it allows you to share wonderful moments with your family. Even very young children can join you on your outings.

With a SUP board, you can easily go paddling with your children seated at the front. This way, they can have fun watching the water's surface while participating in the outing. In fact, your children may soon want to paddle themselves or even dive into the water from the board. Inflatable boards are ideal for children because they are much less likely to get hurt if they fall than rigid boards. Furthermore, inflatable boards are much less susceptible to impacts, especially paddle strikes, which can happen when beginners are learning.

If you want to paddle with several people on a single board, the SUP XL and XXL will allow you to bring all your friends and family along for a fun and friendly time.

Stand-up paddleboarding (SUP) will allow you to escape the crowds on the beach and share a special moment with your family, surrounded by nature. Glide across the water and show your loved ones hidden spots accessible only to paddleboarders. And if you feel the need to relax, you can take a nap by lying on your board and letting yourself be lulled by the current (a flat one, of course!).

    Reason 5: Easy-to-carry equipment

Inflatable surfboards have the advantage of being much less bulky than rigid boards. Indeed, the latter often require roof racks for transport in a car, time spent strapping them down, and the risk of having the board stolen while parked.

While an inflatable board can be packed into a backpack, making it easy to store at home and take anywhere , all SROKA SUPs come with their own carrying bag. You can travel with your paddleboard without worrying about damaging it.

SROKA models are designed to withstand impacts, making them as robust and durable as possible. We've reinforced the rails to prevent any leaks or damage caused by impacts and friction. We use multiple layers of high-grade PVC (the same material used in professional semi-rigid boats) to ensure maximum waterproofing.
