Our comparison of inflatable paddleboards on the market
For beginners, we recommend stable paddleboards that are slightly shorter to improve maneuverability. Stability depends on the board's width; a wider board will be more stable. A beginner's paddleboard will be primarily designed for leisurely paddling.
What will differentiate the brands is the construction:
- A more reinforced paddle, and therefore more durable over time, will be a little heavier because it will have a few more layers of PVC .
- A very light paddleboard will be less sturdy. There's a 1kg difference.
The more reinforced the paddleboard, the more rigid and stable it will be. Therefore , it's important to look at the number of layers, which can help you differentiate between constructions.
1. The top 5 budget-friendly paddleboards
An inexpensive paddleboard is an easy-to-use board at a very reasonable price. It will allow you to discover paddleboarding and get your first experience.
Generally, a cheap paddleboard is an entry-level model . To make it more economical, the number of PVC layers is reduced, and the design and construction are simplified to achieve a very attractive price. Depending on the brand, the durability and stability can vary greatly.
We've created a ranking to help you better understand all the models and make your choice. Our main criteria were: construction, material quality, board width for maximum stability, and price.

2. The top 5 paddleboards for beginners
For beginners, we recommend stable paddleboards that are slightly shorter to improve maneuverability. Stability depends on the board's width; a wider board will be more stable. A beginner's paddleboard is best suited for family outings . The main differences between brands lie in the construction and quality of the PVC and adhesives used, as well as the overall shape of the inflatable paddleboard, which determines its glide. A more reinforced, and therefore more durable, paddleboard will be slightly heavier due to its multiple layers of PVC. A very lightweight paddleboard will be less robust. There's a difference of about 1 kg between the two. The more reinforced the paddleboard, the more rigid and stable it will be. Therefore, it's important to consider the number of layers, which can help you differentiate between constructions. Finally, some shapes will allow for better glide, while others will be more stable. Choose according to your needs and skill level.

3. The top 4 racing paddleboards
A racing paddleboard is necessarily long and narrow. The longer and narrower it is, the more efficient it will be, but at the cost of being less stable . Therefore, you need to be very skilled at paddleboarding to fully utilize this type of stand-up paddleboard.
A racing paddleboard typically ranges from 12'6" to 14' in length. The width will be less than 28". Again, one of the keys to performance is rigidity, which is why many competitors opt for rigid boards. However, a growing number of competitors are using inflatable paddleboards for the sake of simplicity.
We deliberately didn't assign scores because race paddling is very difficult to evaluate. So many factors come into play that it's hard to be objective. 80% of the performance depends on the competitor and the paddler on the board . Therefore, cardio, physical strength, and explosiveness are such important criteria that they can skew a test.

4. The top 4 surf paddleboards
To surf on an inflatable paddleboard, you need to choose your paddleboard carefully.
The shape is different, as is its thickness:
- The outline of the board should be quite round, with a narrowing at the front and back of the board to facilitate turns and prevent the nose from entering the wave.
- A thickness of 5 inches or 12 cm is recommended in order to be able to better press on the rails and thus turn the board more easily.
- Similarly, the position and angle of the fins will influence the paddleboard's maneuverability.
- Finally, rigidity is a fundamental criterion for making proper turns. If the board is made too lightly, it will bounce on the water with a significant loss of energy.
So take the time to compare the different models; it's essential. It's better to invest in a good paddleboard for riding the waves.
At SROKA we offer two models that could potentially be suitable for paddle surfing.
- There's the Wave 9'5 which will be primarily geared towards paddle surfing but you can still use it for cruising.
- And the second is the Malibu 10, which will be oriented 70% cruising and 30% waves.
Our main criteria for evaluating these 4 paddles were: the shape of the board (which determines the maneuverability of the board), the width, the thickness, the length of the board, as well as the construction of the paddles and the materials used.

5. The top 5 touring paddleboards
Going on a paddleboard tour is an adventure to embark on with family or friends. Technically, all paddleboards can be used for this, but:
- If you want to optimize your glide and your hike , we advise you to take boards with pointed noses for better gliding.
- If you are looking for stability , opt for a paddle with a pointed nose and a fairly wide tail to maximize your stability.
- If you're looking to maximize glide , opt for a long, thin board with a narrow tail. This will allow you to go faster . This type of board will provide excellent glide and allow you to cover more distance with less effort.
Our main criteria were sturdiness, the general shape which will determine the glide and stability, the quality and quantity of materials used, and the price.

What is an inflatable paddleboard?
Inflatable paddleboarding is a water sport practiced on the sea, lakes, or rivers. Using a paddle, the paddler stands on a board and propels themselves forward. Inflatable paddleboarding, stand-up paddleboarding, and SUP are all the same sport.
A paddleboard (or stand-up paddleboard) is a board accompanied by one or more fins, a pump, a leash, and a carrying bag. Sometimes paddleboards are sold separately (without a paddle or leash), and sometimes they are sold with them. Rigid boards can still be found, but inflatable boards are more common due to their simplicity, ease of use, and durability.
Who can practice stand-up paddleboarding?
Inflatable paddleboarding is designed for a very wide audience. From beginners to experts, you'll find what you're looking for. There are no age limits. This type of activity is particularly suited to people who want to relax on the water and get away from the crowds.
There are different types of inflatable paddleboards. They vary in shape, length, and number of fins to meet different needs. Similarly, the construction is very important in determining the responsiveness, rigidity, and stability of your paddleboard.
So before investing in a paddleboard, analyze your wants and needs in order to choose the right model
Depending on your intended activity, choosing the right paddleboard will be crucial to truly suit what you want to do on the water. If you plan on touring, racing, paddle surfing, or learning the basics, you'll need a different board. A "do-it-all" paddleboard will be a compromise, doing everything but nothing well. So, consider your location, skill level, preferences, and body type; the best paddleboard for your needs will vary.
We tried to show you different products that can meet all your needs. Our main criteria were: the price of the paddleboard, its construction, its width, its shape, and any accessories included.
