History

champion kitesurf bruno sroka

“Hello, my name is Bruno SROKA, I am a three-time kitesurfing world champion, a developer of boards and foils for 16 years and founder of SROKA Company : smashing results, solid partnerships, and an absolutely delighted clientele.

Today I’m going to walk you through how we’ve designed an exceptional high-end mast and fuselage package to allow you to push every limit you can imagine.

But you know what? Weare not alone in this adventure.

We have at our side our engineer JB Marchand : a true virtuoso of hydrodynamics and PhD student in his field, designer of one of the fastest foils in the world

And that’s not all! We are also fortunate to work with a state-of-the-art factory, which uses the best materials and the latest technology to manufacture our foils.

Thanks to these two collaborations, we have managed to create a unique foil, which combines strength, performance and design

A reliable foil that lasts over time !”

Don't take our word for it.

Instead, listen to what customers, testers and ambassadors who have tested the ELITE foil in preview have to say:

The biggest dilemma in designing a carbon mast.

In an ever-changing world, you’re always looking to push your limits on the water. But here’s the thing, you need a foil that meets your expectations…

  • To have a very fast mast that glides, you need a very thin mast with very little rope.
  • To have a rigid mast you need a thick mast, with a lot of rope, and a lot of carbon.
  • To have a light mast, you need very little amount of carbon.

Do you see the problem?

A mast cannot be thin, rigid, efficient AND light at the same time.

The trade-offs between lightness, rigidity and performance leave a lot to be desired…

And in this area, everything counts: the slightest bending makes you lose precision, turning your experience into an unpleasant and unstable dance at high speeds.

When the amount of carbon is reduced to lighten the mast, it leads to a decrease in its rigidity by increasing the proportion of foam inside the mast.

However, to have a foil of unparalleled comfort at high speed or with large front fins, the rigidity of the mast becomes paramount.

The solution...?

THE CARBON ELITE FOIL

140 layers of M40J High Modulus Carbon Fiber, positioned at 0° and 45° to optimize mast torsion and bending.

The SROKA Elite foil is much more than just an answer to these frustrations.

It’s designed to give you uncompromising glide, unwavering stiffness and performance worthy of your ambitions.

We’ve put an end to the dilemma between thinness, stiffness and performance.

With:

  1. A 100% HM (High Modulus) carbon construction without foam
  2. A neat draping plan
  3. An effective profile
  4. A rope that varies from 15.8 mm at its upper end to 14 mm at its lower end,

We’ve created a foil that combines finesse and strength to give you a gliding experience that’s superior to anything you’ve experienced so far.

Our Pick:

01

Suitable draping

It’s not enough to have a steep mast in bending. Reducing twist is fundamental and our draping plan optimizes this aspect. The steeper a mast is with little twist, the more responsive your foil will be under your feet. Each interlocking and accessory has been designed to maintain maximum rigidity and reliability.

The result: no latency between your actions and the reactions of your foil. The foil reacts exactly as you expect.

Quality carbon fiber

02

The mast is constructed entirely of M40J High Modulus Carbon. It’s the same carbon that is used for aerospace, F1 or America’s Cup.

It is one of the only masts built with only M40 J (without foam or basic carbon). The result is a top-of-the-range mast with phenomenal performance.

You have a durable foil that will perform well for years to come.

03

An effective profile

Inspired by the profiles used in the América’s Cup, all parts of the mast have been reworked, improved and studied on specialized fluid mechanics software to facilitate the flow of water and reduce brakes.

This set makes this mast a technological feat that will give you an unparalleled glide.

The result: you accelerate easily and without resistance on a perfectly silent foil: gain more than 30% of glide compared to an aluminium mast.

FAQ

Our carbon masts have several advantages over our aluminum mast. Some of these benefits include:

  • Our carbon masts are thinner than the aluminium version, which significantly reduces drag and increases speed. You will have a feeling of unbridled glide and a better finesse of flight.
  • Our carbon masts are as stiff or stiffer than the aluminium version, which improves responsiveness and control. All your maneuvers will become easier.
  • Our carbon masts are lighter than the aluminium versions, which reduces the weight of the foil and makes it easier to transport. This will allow you to carry your foil effortlessly and get it in the water faster. Lightweight design improves responsiveness and control.
  • Our carbon masts do not require rinsing or maintenance, unlike the aluminium versions which can corrode with salt. This will allow you to enjoy your foil for longer and without worry.

In summary, our carbon masts offer you a more enjoyable, high-performance and durable sailing experience than our aluminum mast. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or would like to order your carbon mast.

The SROKA Elite 14mm carbon foil is heavier than the average carbon mast because it is made of a lot of high-quality carbon, which gives it exceptional rigidity. The mast is solid and has no foam inside, making it stronger and more durable.

There’s no secret, such a slippery and stiff mast can’t be lighter, unless you use even better carbon fibers, which would make a much more expensive foil.

The extra weight is more than compensated for by its drag without resistance and perfect responsiveness.

For a lighter mast, choose the 16mm SOLO carbon mast.

No, the Elite carbon mast is not compatible with the S-Foil Aluminium fuselage.

However, in order for you to use your High Aspect, Classic, Control and stabilizer fins, a fuselage (Elite 100% Carbon or Elite Aluminum, as desired) is provided with the mast.

Carbon masts are more expensive than aluminum poles for several reasons. Here are some of those reasons:

  • Carbon is a more expensive material than aluminum, especially the M40J carbon we use for our masts. This carbon is of very high quality, with exceptional strength and stiffness. It is also rarer and more difficult to produce than aluminum.
  • The manufacturing time of a carbon mast is longer than that of an aluminum mast. Specific steps must be followed, such as cutting, draping, moulding, demoulding, sanding and varnishing the carbon.
  • The quality control of a carbon mast is more demanding than that of an aluminium mast. Carefully check the carbon for defects or cracks that could compromise the safety and performance of the mast. It is also necessary to ensure that the mast meets the required strength and rigidity standards.

The carbon mast does not require any specific maintenance, unlike the version with the aluminum fuselage. This is because carbon is a corrosion-resistant material that does not degrade with salt. So you don’t need to rinse your carbon mast after each session, nor do you need to clean it with a special product. Just store it in a dry place away from shocks.

On the other hand, the aluminum fuselage should be rinsed with fresh water after each session, to prevent the screw inserts from oxidizing.

If your carbon mast has minor damage, such as scratches, chips, or superficial cracks, we can help you repair it. We have the expertise and equipment to restore your carbon mast to its original appearance and performance. We can carry out the repair in our workshop or at home, depending on your convenience.

No, using a carbon mast does not require a high level of experience. You can use a carbon mast regardless of your level of practice, whether you are a beginner, intermediate or expert. The carbon mast will give you lighterness, responsiveness and performance, while being compatible with both Elite Carbon and Elite Aluminium fuselages. This will allow you to choose the fuselage that suits you best, according to your budget and preferences.

No, carbon masts are not sensitive to UV rays.

The speed of a foil depends mainly on the resistance it encounters in the water.

This resistance, called drag, is influenced by the shape and size of the foil’s mast. The thinner the mast and with little rope, the less drag it creates and the faster it is.

The material of the mast plays a role in its performance. Carbon is a lighter and stiffer material than aluminum, which reduces the rope (width) and thickness of the mast without compromising its strength.

Thus, carbon masts are generally thinner than aluminum poles, making them faster.

However, it is important to check the characteristics of each mast before comparing their speed, as there may be exceptions.

If you have pre-ordered a foil, you will receive a confirmation email as soon as your order is shipped. From this date, parcels generally take 2 to 3 working days maximum to be delivered, for metropolitan France.

For other destinations, delivery times may vary depending on the delivery service chosen. Thank you for your patience and trust.

It depends on the carbon masts, as there are different types of carbon and manufacturing.

Our carbon mast is 100% solid, i.e. there is no foam inside, which makes it stronger and more resistant to impacts.

In addition, it is made with M40J carbon, which is a high-quality carbon, used especially in aeronautics.

This carbon offers excellent stiffness and durability. It makes our mast lighter than average, but much more durable.

In addition, small snags on rocks or other obstacles can be repaired easily and quickly, and for a low price.

You can contact us for more information about after-sales service.

In conclusion, our carbon mast is no more fragile than an aluminium mast.

A carbon foil can be used in all foiling disciplines.

Indeed, thanks to their rigidity and thinness, SROKA foils offer exceptional performance in all conditions.

However, you will see even more benefits in disciplines where gliding is very important, such as downwind or running.

In these disciplines, the carbon foil’s ability to maintain high speed and glide effortlessly can make a significant difference.

In any case, whether you are a freeride rider or a race competitor, a SROKA carbon foil will give you a tenfold sensation.
