Is there really a better Parawing in 2026?
No, and be wary of rankings that single out one model as number one. A Parawing designed for pure Downwind won't be the best fit if you're just starting out, and the lightest wing on the market isn't necessarily the one that will get you going earliest in the breeze. The real question isn't "what's the best Parawing", it's "what's the best Parawing for me".
The market has matured. Major wing, kite, and paragliding brands now have their dedicated lines, and specialists have arrived. The difference between two wings no longer comes down to the brand, but to concrete things: how the wing launches in light wind, its stability as the wind increases, its handling, and its power management. That last point has evolved the most this year.

What criteria should you use to judge a Parawing?
Before choosing, look at these five criteria. These are what determine your real pleasure on the water, much more than the name on the wing.
- Flight in light wind. It depends on the fabric weight, the suspension system, and the profile. This determines the wind strength at which you Takeoff.
- Stability in strong wind and gusts. The wing must handle heavy conditions without stalling or unbalancing you.
- Repacking. The ability to fold the wing in flight to surf the swell, then redeploy it smoothly. Line length matters a lot: the shorter they are, the faster the Packing.
- Handling. The smaller the wing, the more responsive it is. Bridle architecture also counts: a wing without pre-lines responds faster and is piloted more finely.
- Power management. The 2026 criterion. Each brand has its approach: bar angle with Ozone, wrist with Duotone, a dedicated tab with North, pulley bridles with Flysurfer, bar release with Gong. The best Parawing for beginners
When you're starting out, you're looking for three things: predictable behavior, gust safety, and a forgiving wing. The classic difficulty with a Parawing for beginners is continuous pull: when the wind picks up or you get back on your board, the wing keeps pulling you.
That's exactly where the FYNIX stands out for a beginner. A push on the bar cuts the power instantly thanks to the PushBar System®. You have a real safety net: in a gust or during a waterstart, you neutralize the pull without letting go of the bar. The best Parawing for Downwind
In Downwind, several models are designed for it: the North Ranger as a Downwind takeoff tool, the Duotone Stash oriented toward Downwind and Freeride, the F-One Frigate with 8 sizes. But beyond the model, three things make a real difference: fabric weight, line length, and your ability to go Upwind based on how you navigate.
Fabric weight determines how easily you launch in light wind. The FYNIX uses a light 30g Spi, which helps you Takeoff early when the wind is weak. Line length changes everything for repacking: the shorter the lines, the faster you fold and redeploy the wing between waves. On the FYNIX, the lines run inside the bar, which further shortens everything and makes Packing cleaner than most systems.
The third point depends on your practice. If you're doing Downwind starting from your arrival point, you first need to go Upwind: there, being able to cut power easily changes everything, and that's what the depower-power of the PushBar System® allows, letting you Depower to better go Upwind while maintaining your heading. Conversely, if you're doing Downwind only on descent, where going Upwind matters little, the ultralight wings take the advantage, and the BRM is very strong on this terrain.

The best Parawing for light travel
All Parawings have one thing in common: they fit in a backpack, whereas an inflatable wing takes up a whole suitcase. A complete Parawing quiver fits in the space of a single conventional wing. If weight and compactness are your absolute priority, the market reference on this criterion is the BRM, ultralight (around 310 to 460 g depending on size), with fabric lightened compared to the previous generation.

Which Parawing for your budget, from most affordable to premium
2026 prices span widely, and there's a wing for every budget.
Entry-level. The Gong Lowkite starts at just 309 euros and the Takoon Zenith around 399 euros. Caution: on the cheapest models, the fabric is often a thicker Spi, chosen to keep the price down. That impacts the wing weight and its ease of flight in light wind.
Mid-range. The FYNIX SROKA is positioned from 679 euros. You get access to active power management with the PushBar System® at a mid-range price, below the major premium references.
Premium. The F-One Frigate starts at 999 euros and the Duotone Stash is above 900 euros. Brands like Ozone, Flysurfer, and BRM also play in this segment, with prices varying by size and retailer—verify at purchase. Each has its signature: BRM for lightness, Ozone for bar angle control, Flysurfer for pulley bridles.
The right approach isn't to aim for the lowest price, but the best ratio between what the wing brings you and what you plan to do with it. A wing that widens your wind range saves you from buying a second size too soon.
Single-skin, hybrid, or double-skin: which construction to choose?
This is the criterion people talk about least, yet it's what determines wing behavior. A Parawing is built as single-skin (one fabric surface), double-skin (two surfaces linked by cells, like a paraglide), or hybrid (only part of the wing is cellular). Construction isn't chosen by level or price: it's chosen by program.

Single-skin. This is the simplest construction to live with. It folds quickly, redeploys smoothly, doesn't fill with water. For beginners, it's the obvious choice: other constructions add complexity when you need it least. For Downwind, it's also the reference, because you spend your time folding and redeploying the wing between waves.
Hybrid. It only cells part of the wing. You gain control, less effort in your hands, and better heading, but lose a little on repacking. It's a construction for experienced riders, not for a first purchase. In Downwind, it makes sense if you already have the ease to manage a slightly less immediate repack.
Double-skin. It offers the best heading and speed, making it the construction of choice for competition. It has two counterparts. First, its wind range is shifted toward higher wind: it launches later than single-skin. Second, if you fall, its cells fill with water and must be emptied, making it poorly suited for Downwind. In Freeride, all three constructions work.
Then there's the question of power, where the two philosophies diverge. Double-skin provides passive management: the wing structure smooths out gusts without your intervention, but at the cost of weight, a shifted range, and repacking. The PushBar System® takes the other path, toward active management: you cut or restore power on demand, on a single-skin that keeps its lightness, early launch, and easy Packing.

One that lets you cut power easily. A wing with instant Depower like the FYNIX SROKA neutralizes pull with a bar push, securing gusts and waterspeeds. Cheaper entry-level options exist to start without active power management.
What Parawing size for 80 kg?
There's no fixed wind range per size. The wind at which you launch, like the wind where you become overpowered, depends on your whole setup: wing size, but also your foil, board, weight, and level. To launch from 6 to 8 kts, you need a big wing (around 6 m), a big thin board, and a very large foil with high Aspect ratio, with good level. With a 5 m on a standard setup, you cover 10 to 25 kts, if you adjust foil and board to your weight and level. It's the foil-board pair that really stretches your low end. Do you need a double-skin Parawing to progress?
No. Construction follows your program, not your level. For beginners and Downwind, single-skin remains the simplest and most forgiving choice. Double-skin gains on heading and speed, so in competition, but it launches later in the wind and its cells fill with water if you fall.
Is the cheapest Parawing a good choice for starting?
