Tandem paddle or solo board: which to choose?

The tandem paddle board is designed for two paddlers standing up. Longer and wider than a solo board, it leaves room for each person and gains in stability, ease and comfort. It is a true two-person paddle board: you paddle together, in sync, and the board moves fast. On the other hand, it is less maneuverable on your own.

A large solo board suits occasional paddling for two. The simplest option is to have the passenger sit at the front while the other paddler stands at the back. To paddle standing up together, we recommend the Easy 11'6, the Easy 12'6 or the Alpha 12'6 × 31". The key criterion is width: for two people, a wider board is more stable, and therefore easier. On a solo board shared by two, favor calm waters and stay close to the shore.
