SROKA review: Hadrien Brunner tests the Wing range Foil

Hadrien Brunner, is a youtuber renowned for the quality of his wing tests and reviews foil. In this new video, he reviews the entire foil Sroka wing range and gives you his opinion as an experienced foiler.
“I like this approach, which says that whatever your size and level, you’ll find something to suit you, with a starting chassis that is rigid, robust and reliable.”
To carry out this test, Hadrien Brunner foiled in a variety of conditions to put the equipment through its paces in a range of different conditions. Waves for surfing foil, wind swell, chop and downwind for wingfoil. And last but not least, a dockstart session to compare different fins and stabilizers.
This test does not include Sroka wing wings, which are subject to a second test.

Hadrien’s opinion on WINGFOIL Sroka equipment
950 HA Speed
S-Foil 1190 High Aspect Speed
What amazed Hadrien Brunner at first was the ultra-fast take-off of foil, both in wing foil and in surf foil. The 1190 High Aspect Speed wing has a good glide and is “very easy to pump” (in wingfoil and surf foil) thanks to good support. According to his test, foil does not require a front leg that is too anchored in the board. The fact of having a fairly free front leg proves to be pleasant for changing direction and carving.
As for the Lift, it’s perfect for surfing, as it has more lift, so it’s easier for taller riders.

S-Foil classic 1250
Hadrien Brunner also tested the S-Foil Classique 1250 at Wing Foil . His opinion? With the 1250 fin, take-off is even earlier than with the 1190 HA fin. In his opinion, the 1250 is more stable, easier to handle and keeps good speed. However, with this winglet, he finds that the glide ratio is lower(What is glide ratio?).
“On classic S-Foils, you’re in control, you keep that longitudinal stability, even in heavy conditions”.

Fast Flyer 4’6
For Hadrien, the ratio is slim and the width is right in the center of the board, and he finds it has very good waterstart balance. What’s more, “the board is relatively light, so with the foil we had a good glide, a good ability to pump”. Hadrien Brunner also appreciated the 4’6’s pads: “This big pad is great because you have grip everywhere”.

Sroka Air: the inflatable wing board foil
Hadrien Brunner doesn’t usually sail regularly on inflatable wing foil boards. However, his opinion of the Sroka Air is positive. Despite the fact that, in his opinion, it takes a little longer to set up than a rigid board, the inflatable has two big advantages: solidity and practicality. Indeed, as he says, it’s a compact board that’s easy to take to the beach.
“I had fun, I had a blast”.
He sees the inflatable wing foil board as a great family tool, very practical for traveling and offering great sensations. For him, inflatables are reassuring in the event of a fall, especially for children. You can’t get hurt on an inflatable board. What’s more, he found the Sroka Air easy to transport. It doesn’t take up any space, it doesn’t suffer from knocks, and he even used it to protect his foil boards. A Sroka board bag can hold three sails, a foil and a board.

Hadrien’s SURF FOIL Sroka review
1190 High Aspect Speed
- Very free in curves
- A pleasant way to reconnect with the waves
- “The front kite is efficient, we generate speed when pumping, we’re comfortable when we have to do a small quarter to turn around on the wave and reconnect.”

1190 High Aspect Lift
- Thicker profile than the 1190 High Aspect Speed
- More lift than Speed, even at low speeds
- “What’s going to be interesting is that if you’re not an expert, this wing stays perf but it’s going to be more forgiving.”

1750 Classic
- Very high lift at low speeds
- Interesting when changing direction due to its compact profile
- High roll tolerance: ideal for making up for piloting errors
- Perfect for beginners foil

Hadrien Brunner’s advice on choosing your wing board foil
Don’t go for a small board at all costs. “The day the wind drops and you get a gusty off wind, you can quickly find yourself in trouble and not enjoy your session. But with the right board, you’ll be able to get the most out of your session and enjoy yourself throughout”. For example, if you’re a beginner and you’re hesitating between the Sky Rider 4’8 and the Sky Rider 5’2, it’s best to go for the 5’2 (but make sure the board is adapted to your size). This way, you’ll be able to have fun even when conditions aren’t ideal.
