The SROKA wing foil: construction and size selection

Our wing foils are constructed in high-density Dacron with Dyneema reinforcements at load points. The tube architecture is calculated to maintain a stable profile under load, without deformation in flight — a critical point often overlooked on entry-level wings.

Wing size depends on three combined variables: the wind range of your usual spots, your weight and your flying level.

• 3.0 – 4.0 m² — sustained wind (20–30+ kts), experienced rider or light weight. Lively wing, responsive, excellent handling.
• 4.5 – 5.0 m² — maximum versatility, medium wind (15–22 kts). The best-selling format, suitable for most practitioners between 70 and 85 kg.
• 5.5 – 6.0 m² — light wind (12–18 kts) or heavy weight. More surface = more lift at low speed.

The SROKA Wingfoil board: two families, one volume rule

The basic rule for volume selection: rider weight (kg) + 30 to 50 liters to start, rider weight + 10 to 20 liters for intermediate to advanced practice.

• Inflatable board — light, easy to transport, perfect for first sessions and flat water spots.
• Carbon rigid board — more responsive and reactive, ideal for a performance program or freeride in waves. Compact format by level: 50–80 L (intermediate), 30–55 L (advanced).

All our Wingfoil boards feature a double-track foil box, compatible with the most common mounting systems (Tuttle, Deep Tuttle, Plate).

The SROKA Foil: anatomy and component selection

The foil consists of four parts — each directly influences flight behavior:

1. The Mast — its length defines flight height. 60–75 cm to start (falls less costly), 85–95 cm for advanced riders.
2. The front wing — its surface (cm² or m²) determines lift at low speed. Large front wing (1,600 – 2,200 cm²) = easy takeoff, stable flight. Small wing (700 – 1,200 cm²) = high top speed, precise feedback.
3. The fuselage — its length affects roll stability and pumping response. Long = stable but less reactive. Short = better pump foil.
4. The stabilizer — controls longitudinal trim. A large stabilizer makes pitch balance easier for beginners.

Essential wing foil accessories

• Hip leash for foil — essential to avoid separation from the board in case of a fall.
• Impact vest wing foil — protects the chest during falls, highly recommended at the beginning of learning.
• Wingfoil bags — for transport and storage, extends the lifespan of your equipment.

Where to practice Wing foil?

• At sea — wind-exposed beaches, sandy bottom for secure takeoffs.
• On a lake — flat water perfect for beginners, more regular conditions than at sea.
• In a river or inland water body — depending on the wind available locally.

Ideal conditions for first sessions: regular wind between 12 and 20 knots, flat or slightly rough water, shallow bottom at the entry.

Safety in Wing foil

• The Foil : the wings are sharp — a properly adjusted board leash is essential.
• Falls : helmet and impact vest highly recommended at the beginning of learning.
• The wind : avoid too strong or unstable conditions during your first sessions.
• Fatigue : first outings are physically intense — limit their duration.
