Video presentation

The carbon foil is a great choice for anyone looking for performance in wingfoil, surf foil, pumping, downwind, wakefoil.

It’s all about compromise. While the carbon foil can be stiffer, it will be as heavy as an aluminium mast. If the carbon foil is lighter, it will have lost stiffness. The rigidity and performance of a mast is defined by the thickness and chord of the mast. The thinner the carbon mast (in thickness and chord), the better the mast will be. However, to be stiff, you will need to increase the amount of carbon and the quality of the carbon fibers to maintain low drag and maximize stiffness. This is what we have done in the Elite range of the 14 mm carbon mast.

Rigidity, responsiveness and durability. Carbon is stiffer than aluminum if we use high-quality carbon fibers called: High Modulus Carbon. The draping plane of a mast is of fundamental importance and will determine its torsional or bending stiffness; If the draping plan is perfect, it will greatly improve the responsiveness and control of the board at high speeds. The rigidity of the carbon foil allows you to feel sensations that are difficult to perceive with other materials. This is what we offer you for the Elite carbon foil version in 14 mm.

If you are looking for more lightness, we advise you to look at the Solo foil in 16mm. It will be lighter by more than 1 kg compared to an aluminium foil. The gain in lightness will be compensated by a greater thickness of the mast (therefore increased drag) while maintaining a stiffness similar to the Elite 14 mm carbon foil. If your goal is not to set speed records, the Solo carbon foil in 16 mm will suit you perfectly.

Finally, carbon is more durable than aluminum, which means it will last longer and require less maintenance if you pay attention to it.

Foil en carbone que faut il prendre en compte avant l'achat

Why does carbon foil cost more than aluminum foil?

Carbon foil is usually more expensive than aluminum foil due to the quality and quantity of materials used, not to mention the complexity of manufacturing. Carbon is more difficult to work with than aluminum, making it more expensive to produce. In our Elite Carbon Mast version, we have 140 layers of carbon that are laid one after the other in the mould.

The performance of the carbon foil

Improved responsiveness and control. The carbon foil improves the responsiveness and control of the board thanks to its stiffness. It allows you to unite with your equipment and it will allow you to be more precise on your supports. As a result, demanding riders can experience sensations that are difficult to perceive with other materials. In addition, a decrease in the overall drag of the mast results in more maneuverability of the foil. You will feel the gusts more pronouncedly and therefore the exhilarating acceleration on the water.

  1. The Classic range is aimed at beginners and consists of three front fender sizes: 2000 cm2, 1750 cm2 and 1500 cm2. These wings have a moderate aspect ratio which gives them maximum stability, accessibility and maneuverability. The size of the front fin will be determined by where you will be sailing (strong wind or light wind) and your size.
  2. The Control range is our all-rounder, it will allow you to carve, progress, enjoy the excellence of the SROKA range with a significant dose of accessibility on top of that! Whatever your level, this range will give you control whatever the wind or sea conditions. It is available in two wings: currently 1250 cm2, 950 cm2 and soon 820 and 680 cm2 will arrive.
  3. Finally, the High Aspect range (the one with a high aspect ratio) allows, in large sizes, to have the feeling of an aircraft that glides with a mind-blowing finesse of flight and in small sizes, speed will be the predominant factor.

The ranges are divided into three sub-categories:

  • The Wave (W) sub-range for surf foils, allowing better control and efficient pumping at low speeds,
  • The Lift sub-range (L) with a profile allowing more power and more forgiveness at low speeds with an easier start in the light wind,
  • And the Speed (S) sub-range with fast profiles allowing maximum acceleration, stability at high speeds and unbridled glide with better acceleration feel.

We have chosen to limit our range of stabilizers to 4 models, thus allowing a simpler choice for you, the customer. To adapt to each profile, our outriggers can be used with shims that allow them to be adjusted and thus satisfy all levels and sizes.

In short The carbon foil is an ideal choice for riders looking for optimal performance. It offers incomparable rigidity, glide, responsiveness and durability compared to aluminum foils. If you’re looking to enhance your boating experience, carbon foil is a great choice.

FAQ

Our carbon masts have several advantages over our aluminum mast. Some of these benefits include:

  • Our carbon masts are thinner than the aluminium version, which significantly reduces drag and increases speed. You will have a feeling of unbridled glide and a better finesse of flight.
  • Our carbon masts are as stiff or stiffer than the aluminium version, which improves responsiveness and control. All your maneuvers will become easier.
  • Our carbon masts are lighter than the aluminium versions, which reduces the weight of the foil and makes it easier to transport. This will allow you to carry your foil effortlessly and get it in the water faster. Lightweight design improves responsiveness and control.
  • Our carbon masts do not require rinsing or maintenance, unlike the aluminium versions which can corrode with salt. This will allow you to enjoy your foil for longer and without worry.

In summary, our carbon masts offer you a more enjoyable, high-performance and durable sailing experience than our aluminum mast. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or would like to order your carbon mast.

The SROKA Elite 14mm carbon foil is heavier than the average carbon mast because it is made of a lot of high-quality carbon, which gives it exceptional rigidity. The mast is solid and has no foam inside, making it stronger and more durable.

There’s no secret, such a slippery and stiff mast can’t be lighter, unless you use even better carbon fibers, which would make a much more expensive foil.

The extra weight is more than compensated for by its drag without resistance and perfect responsiveness.

For a lighter mast, choose the 16mm SOLO carbon mast.

No, the Elite carbon mast is not compatible with the S-Foil Aluminium fuselage.

However, in order for you to use your High Aspect, Classic, Control and stabilizer fins, a fuselage (Elite 100% Carbon or Elite Aluminum, as desired) is provided with the mast.

Carbon masts are more expensive than aluminum poles for several reasons. Here are some of those reasons:

  • Carbon is a more expensive material than aluminum, especially the M40J carbon we use for our masts. This carbon is of very high quality, with exceptional strength and stiffness. It is also rarer and more difficult to produce than aluminum.
  • The manufacturing time of a carbon mast is longer than that of an aluminum mast. Specific steps must be followed, such as cutting, draping, moulding, demoulding, sanding and varnishing the carbon.
  • The quality control of a carbon mast is more demanding than that of an aluminium mast. Carefully check the carbon for defects or cracks that could compromise the safety and performance of the mast. It is also necessary to ensure that the mast meets the required strength and rigidity standards.

The carbon mast does not require any specific maintenance, unlike the version with the aluminum fuselage. This is because carbon is a corrosion-resistant material that does not degrade with salt. So you don’t need to rinse your carbon mast after each session, nor do you need to clean it with a special product. Just store it in a dry place away from shocks.

On the other hand, the aluminum fuselage should be rinsed with fresh water after each session, to prevent the screw inserts from oxidizing.

If your carbon mast has minor damage, such as scratches, chips, or superficial cracks, we can help you repair it. We have the expertise and equipment to restore your carbon mast to its original appearance and performance. We can carry out the repair in our workshop or at home, depending on your convenience.

No, using a carbon mast does not require a high level of experience. You can use a carbon mast regardless of your level of practice, whether you are a beginner, intermediate or expert. The carbon mast will give you lighterness, responsiveness and performance, while being compatible with both Elite Carbon and Elite Aluminium fuselages. This will allow you to choose the fuselage that suits you best, according to your budget and preferences.

No, carbon masts are not sensitive to UV rays.

The speed of a foil depends mainly on the resistance it encounters in the water.

This resistance, called drag, is influenced by the shape and size of the foil’s mast. The thinner the mast and with little rope, the less drag it creates and the faster it is.

The material of the mast plays a role in its performance. Carbon is a lighter and stiffer material than aluminum, which reduces the rope (width) and thickness of the mast without compromising its strength.

Thus, carbon masts are generally thinner than aluminum poles, making them faster.

However, it is important to check the characteristics of each mast before comparing their speed, as there may be exceptions.

If you have pre-ordered a foil, you will receive a confirmation email as soon as your order is shipped. From this date, parcels generally take 2 to 3 working days maximum to be delivered, for metropolitan France.

It depends on the carbon masts, as there are different types of carbon and manufacturing.

Our carbon mast is 100% solid, i.e. there is no foam inside, which makes it stronger and more resistant to impacts.

In addition, it is made with M40J carbon, which is a high-quality carbon, used especially in aeronautics.

This carbon offers excellent stiffness and durability. It makes our mast lighter than average, but much more durable.

In addition, small snags on rocks or other obstacles can be repaired easily and quickly, and for a low price.

You can contact us for more information about after-sales service.

In conclusion, our carbon mast is no more fragile than an aluminium mast.
